David Yu is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Finance at NYU Shanghai. He focuses on investing and financing cross border and on real and digital assets. He teaches a variety of investing and financing related courses at NYU Shanghai and in NYU Stern/Shanghai's Masters of Quantitative Finance Program and previously in NYU Stern/HKUST's Masters of Global Finance Program. Yu is the Chairman of AAVA Group, a global valuation and advisory firm and CIO/CFO of Inception Holdings. Prior to his full time appointment, he was previously an Adjunct Professor of Finance at NYU for many years.
Yu is a recognized expert and thought leader in cross border finance and investing. In addition, Yu has extensive experience in direct investments and financing across industries globally. He also acts as a board member and senior advisor for funds and companies. Prof Yu is a frequently invited speaker at leasing, investment, and finance industry conferences and has been interviewed in the top industry and general publications. He is a regular opinion columnist, editor, and commentator for various media outlets including Nikkei Asia, Forbes, Airfinance Journal, Airline Economics, etc. His acclaimed book "Aircraft Valuation: Airplane Investments as an Asset Class" was published by Palgrave MacMillan and cited by top publications and media.

He is a Fellow at Johns Hopkins University's Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise. He is a Senior ISTAT Certified Aviation Appraiser, where he is the only one in China and North Asia and one of ~20 globally. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society. He is the Editor in Chief of The Journal of Aviation Finance and Law. He is a Member of the Technical Standing Committee at the Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation. He is also a Standing Committee Member on Aviation Market Economics and Analysis at the Transportation Research Board (TRB), as part of the US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
